2009 edition to present Yvan Bienvenue’s best tales from the past 15 years

After a successful initiation to Urban Tales two seasons ago, Centaur once again teams up with Théâtre Urbi et Orbi to present a special edition of the celebrated concept, coined by The Gazette as “a holiday essential”. A ritual on the Quebec theatre scene for over 15 years, the third English edition, A Day In The Life Of The City, will bring together four storytellers to tell eight stories written by Yvan Bienvenue, the creator of Urban Tales. Get set for an enjoyable evening of holiday entertainment with these sometimes raunchy, and often dark, tales for mature audiences!

Dawn of the Dead It’s 5:30 in the morning and the police are called to investigate a strange smell emanating from the apartment of old Mr. Whatsisname, a 7’12” man, that has spine-curved
down to 6’ over the years.

Head-Splitting Recess Walking to school at 8 A.M., Emile comes up with a plan to feed his hungry classmates after a young zealot teacher revokes free breakfast for the under-privileged, in an effort to motivate the kids of a white-trash elementary school to make the McCarthy Top 100 Schools,

Fat Thigh Noon In the culinary orgy that is the city at lunch time, an impossible love story takes place between a lonely burger flipper and his Fat Princess, at the McDonald’s corner Papineau & Mt. Royal.

Thank God it’s Good Friday It’s not easy being a secretary, especially when you’re in love with your boss. But this is the day that Marilyn will tell him, in her own special way… What’s the worst that could happen?

Booger Nights It was just supposed to be a quiet family supper; not an all-out Christmas bash. So why are they all greeting me like I’m more than just a casual guest? Do they know that I have a booger in my hand?

One Just Before Midnight A simple, naïve guy, unlucky in love, is in a bar around midnight. Before him stands the gal who seems to be the answer to all his erotic prayers. Is it too good to be true?

Closing Time It’s closing time at a quiet corner bar - a tragedy for those who work for minimum wage and minimum happiness, in a minimum society

In The End Is My Beginning A day in the life of the city; a life changed in one day. From the end of a dark winter night into the light – a story of the ridiculous that transforms a drunk into a poet.
