With wit, and clever farce, classic French master de Marivaux invites us into a timeless world of romance by asking the universal questions that lovers have always faced.
A young but strong-willed noble woman warily prepares for the imminent meeting with her betrothed. Inexperienced, but already skeptical of love and marriage, she disguises herself so that she may observe the young man’s true personality. Little does she know that he also sets out to employ the same deception.
Love-duets abound while ruses are cleverly played out in fine parlours and dark corridors. When guises are confessed will love triumph or expire? With its beautiful prose and elaborate professions from the heart, audiences will surely be seduced by this irresistible romantic comedy!
